Club History
Topsham Bowling Club was established in 1928, thanks to the generous support of Sir Woodrow Matthews, who funded the construction of Matthews Hall along with a bowling green for the local community.
The original clubhouse, built that same year using second-hand materials, was quite modest. However, from these humble beginnings, the club has steadily grown and developed into one of Devon’s premier bowling venues.
Situated in the heart of Topsham, adjacent to the Matthews Hall car park, the club offers excellent convenience for visitors traveling from Exeter. Additionally, its full-size bowling green is frequently recognized as one of the finest in the county, attracting players and spectators alike.
