Rink Diary Pilot Project
Overview
We're currently trying out a new online rink booking system called Rink Diary, aiming to roll it out for the 2026 summer season.
Like with any change, there are ups and downs. Some members are excited about the new system, while others have shared their concerns. But if the pilot goes well, we plan to have everything up and running well before the season starts. This way, everyone will have plenty of time to sign up and join training sessions to get comfortable with the new booking process.
To help ease any worries about moving to this new online booking system, we’ve put together a handy list of frequently asked questions (FAQs). They cover common concerns and offer clear answers, so if the pilot is a success, switching to online booking will be easy and stress-free for you.
Phase 1 - Testing
We’ll set up the online rink booking system in a way that we believe will work best for the club and its members.
A small group, likely members of the Playing Committee, will give the system a test run to see how it performs and share any feedback or concerns.
After that, we’ll all come together to walk through some common scenarios that people like the Captains and Fixtures Secretary often handle—things like prioritising or changing rink bookings, making provisional bookings for competitions and County fixtures, members forgetting to cancel, and so on.
Once that’s done, the Playing Committee will decide whether to recommend to the Management Committee that we move forward with rolling out the system.
Phase 2 - Roll Out
We want to make sure everyone has the training and support they need to get comfortable with the online booking system without any hassle.
Before opening up registration, we’ll host a launch meeting at the club to walk you through the process and make sure you know exactly how to sign up.
A small team of Super Users will be specially trained to know the system inside and out, ready to help you out in person or over the phone during the rollout.
We’ll also spot anyone who might need a bit of extra help, both at the start and whenever you need it going forward.
We understand that not everyone feels equally confident with technology, and we’re here to make sure that doesn’t get in the way of your bowling fun!
